BSMT BLOG #16 : 4D3N Genting Highlands with kids

Hello Everyone!

I’ve been on Blog Hiatus for almost half a year and glad to be writing again!

So recently we brought our 2 boys to Genting Highlands (It’s been more than a decade since we last visited Genting- and the last time I remembered the resort was not renovated yet so it was still outdated). But now, with many facilities having been upgraded and a few new hotels that can be spotted in the vicinity, Genting Highlands (GH) is definitely a place to visit and be rediscovered!
We self drove up to the Highlands and it took us roughly about 5-6 hours

Day 1: 5 hour drive up from Singapore to Genting Highlands.

We set off from SG around 11 am. Fortunately, we cleared customs on both sides in less than an hour so we saved lots of time on the road. The expressway was quite empty too- we were lucky! We initially wanted to make a pit stop at Malacca ( since it was on the way ) to have some chicken rice balls but we decided not to as we wanted to reach our destination while it was still bright  so we just made a quick stop at a random resting area before continuing our journey.

The roads seemed to have been widened and upgraded too. I remembered the last time I visited GH, the road was so small and we had to drive very slowly and carefully. But I was glad to see that they had done something about the road to increase the safety of the road users ( but that doesn’t mean we can speed up!)

We reached our hotel around 5 pm, checked into our hotel.

We stayed in Crockfords Hotel and the check-in process was a breeze ( they took a deposit of RM200). Hotel guests can get complimentary parking ( ensure to validate your TnG card at the reception counter before exiting). While hub was checking us in, we walked around the lobby and snapped some photos.

After we collected our room key, we went to our room, settled down and we loved our room ( especially the view). Here are some photos tho they might not do justice to the actual room that we stayed in. Have you checked out the room tour reel too? If you haven’t , simply scan this QR code to view the reel on IG 😉

We brought the portable beds for the kids which look like this ( This has been our lifesaver during trips as we didn’t have to pay for extra bed and it’s comfy for the kids to sleep on)

Cloudsleeper By Stokke (can get from Shopee!)

Then we headed to have our dinner at SOULed OUT which is located at Level 4 SkyAvenue. They serve a variety of cuisines from Asian to Western and the food was not too bad. We ordered chicken lasagna, Hawaiian pizza and Indonesian grilled chicken ( Sorry I was so hungry that I forgot to take some pictures) but you can google the menu :)

What we liked is that they also provided some colouring kits for the kids to keep them occupied. Total lifesaver- especially we wanted this trip to be as screen-free as possible.

Here’s Isaac waiting for his food

After dinner, we walked around for abit to check out the area.

SkyAvenue is like one of the shopping complex and it is located very close to Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park ( it is like side by side) so it is quite easy to navigate.

Day 2: Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park & SkyAvenue

Rise and Shine! ☀️

And here is the view from our room!

All of us had a good rest ( most probably due to the long drive the previous day)

The kids were up early as they were too excited to explore the theme park.

We didn’t get Hotel breakfast cos there was a wide selection of food that you can pack ( dabao) from SkyAvenue.

Hub went down to pack some toasts, mee goreng and fried rice and some other finger bites for our breakfast ( and it costs only about RM 40- definitely way cheaper than hotel breakfast lol)

And once done, we headed down!

Genting has 2 theme parks ( one is Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park and the other is Genting SkyWorld Outdoor Theme Park)

We got ourselves Day pass for unlimited rides in the Indoor Theme Park ( for RM 97 per pax). If you do not want to get the Day pass, you can also purchase the single use tickets for each ride which is about RM 16 per pax. We thought that we would spend almost the whole day in the Indoor theme park so we got the Day Pass.

This time round we skipped the Outdoor theme park as the weather was not in our favour 😐 (Quite a pity but at least there is a reason for us to come back!)

We spent almost the whole day playing most of the rides. Unfortunately some rides had certain height requirement that the boys could not get on.

Then we had our late lunch at DTF!
We loved how DTF Malaysia provides Colouring kits and disposable bibs for the kids (Very thoughtful!)

Then we spent the rest of the day walking around SkyAvenue to check out more shops and dining options. We were pleasantly surprised that there is a huge variety of dining options. Some big names include Burger & Lobster, Paris Baguette, Mdm Kwan’s, and Chagee! ( Yes, they do have Chagee)

Day 3: Chin Swee Caves Temple

Well, another bummer during our GH stay was that the Awana Sky Cable Car was closed for maintenance. We would have otherwise been able to take the cable car to visit the Chin Swee Caves Temple. So we decided to drive down the hills- the drive took approximately 10 mins ( luckily)

Very beautiful and peaceful place to visit!

There are many areas to visit within the temple vicinity, including temples for devotees and Sky Terrace which offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains.

You may also check out the IG reel about this trip by scanning the QR below!

Day 4: Visiting a nearby Petting Farm & Drive home

Will write more about this farm in another blog. Stay tuned!

💡Tips:

1. If you choose to self drive, it is much safer to go while it is still bright  (best to go in the day)

2. Pack lots of snacks, water, fresh sets of clothes and some plastic bags ( in case of vomitting)

3. Pack light jackets / cardigans ( GH has AC temperature but it could get quite chilly at night)

4. We visited during OFF Peak season so the hotel rates tend to be cheaper and it was way less crowded

Thank you for reading!

Loves,

Jane ❤️
