Hello Everyone,
Hope everyone is doing well hustling with life and the kiddos!
It’s been months since our last vacation ( JB not counted lol) and finally we decided to have a short getaway , spending some quality time in Langkawi Island. It’s our first time visiting the island and tbh, I didn’t expect much before the trip and was pretty surprised at many activities that catered to adults and kids ( So, always keep your expectations low😉)
Day 1: Flight from Sgp to Langkawi
We took 1 pm flight with Scoot. The flight time was 1.5 hrs ( we chose this timing as it coincides with Isaac’s nap time and we thought it was perfect timing as we could let him play in the airport and nap during the flight). It worked out for the best, Callum and Isaac had a whale of time burning their energy in the airport ( remember that it helps to reach airport early) and both of them took afternoon nap in the plane.
We arrived 2.5 hours earlier so we didn’t rush to check in and just slowly took our time to go through the processes
Callum and Isaac’s favourite view of the runway
I could visualise how beautiful the island is already from above
We reached Langkawi around 3 pm ( there is no time diff between Sg and Langkawi), cleared immigration and security pretty fast.
We rented a car from QEEQ for approx USD70. They collect refundable deposit of RM200 upon collection of car.
🚗🚙 If you don’t wish to rent a car, fret not! Grab service is easily available and you can conveniently book Grab from one point to another ( and it’s not too expensive either) - I had seen many people booking Grab during our stay
And so, we drove all the way to our hotel (ALOFT LANGKAWI PANTAI TENGAH), which is about 7-8 km from the airport
Hotel Carpark is complimentary and conveniently located outside the lobby.
Ps: Aloft Langkawi is under Marriott Bonvoy
We had booked Seaview Twin room from Agoda for our stay ( we were required to pay RM200 deposit). There is also complimentary welcome drink served in a small glass bottle (pretty nice I thought!)
Our room was located at Level 4, the super single bed was big enough for 1 adult and 1 child. The room was pretty clean and spacious. The balcony was as huge!
We super love the huge balcony overlooking the street and the sea
The hotel also provides various activities catering to both kids and adults, from Cupcake decoration class to even Batik and Henna Art Class (Charges apply and highly encouraged to check with Hotel about the activities that they will be holding on certain days as they may be subject to changes)
After settling down, we made our way to explore nearby area as the kids were kinda tired.
We had our early dinner at a Japanese Restaurant & Bar called Chuan Bar Langkawi
The menu option is decent and not too pricey. They serve good skewers and karages. I ordered Ramen Kare for myself under special menu and it’s really quite nice ( I guess I was just too hungry 😅), while the kids had Don
We didn’t do much on the first day as all of us were pretty much tired, so we just explored the vicinity and made our way back to the hotel.
Life is so laid back and chill in this island - we loved it!
We managed to catch this beautiful sunset over the horizon 🌅🌅🌅
What a beauty!
Day 2: Morning Splash, Kids Pizza Making Class, Underwater World, Eagle Square (Dataran Lang), Maha Tower
Day 2 was definitely more eventful. We covered lots of places!
Started the day by having breakfast at the hotel
(Sorry, no pic of the wide selection of breakfast but it’s the standard menu - Western, continental, and Asian/ Malaysian Menu)
Do note that :
- Low traffic timing is between 7-9 am
- High traffic timing is between 9-10.30 am
After which, we headed for a morning swim. As we went for a very early breakfast, we had plenty of time in the pool and all for ourselves!
Callum and Isaac had a whale of time in the pool, they swam to their heart’s content that there was no struggle to get out of the pool.
The boys were pretty exhausted after the swim, so we decided to have a quiet/ reading time while waiting for the pizza making class to start at 12 pm ( the session lasted from 12-1 pm)
At 12 pm, Isaac took his afternoon nap, while Callum and his dad headed to the kids club for the pizza making class ( Chargeable at RM 30 per pax). You can bring back the pizzas you make and they give you a cute little orange aprons for the kiddos.
It’s always best to check with the hotel directly about the activities of the day as it might be subject to changes
Once Isaac woke up, we headed to Underwater World Langkawi. Tbh, it’s not too bad considering they built this attraction on an island. It’s worth visiting!
*Price for Non-Malaysian adults : RM62 per pax
*Price for Non- Malaysian children (3-12 yo): RM47 per pax
*Children under 3 yo enter for free
*Prices denoted are true at the time of our visit and purchase
This underwater tunnel reminds me of the long gone underwater world Singapore 😭
Missing my late clown fish and blue tangs 😭
This is lionfish. It’s pretty but poisonous
Baby Shark Dooo dooo dooo dooo dooo!
Callum with flamboyance of flamingos
Feeding and Interactive sessions with the animal timing
Next, we took an afternoon break at Hidden Cafe (near Chenang Beach)
The cafe is really hidden at one corner near the beach so have to look carefully 😅
Coconut Ice cream with mango 👍
Very generous portion of fries
Creamy Mushroom Pasta (very generous portion of Shitake mushroom) - tho I didn’t fancy the blobs of cheese on top of the pasta 🥴
Our real lifesaver (Jisulife Fan)
After having a quick afternoon break, we headed to Eagle Square ( Dataran Lang )
It’s the most iconic statue in Langkawi so if you have time to spare, you can take some nice photographs here or just take a scenic stroll as it is overlooking the harbour.
As you can see, Isaac was in awe , looking at the Eagle haha 😂
Right across the Harbour, you can see the Maha Tower
You can pay admission tickets to go up to the sky deck and have a beautiful view of the Island (which we didn’t cos we just didn’t wanna waste the money on it haha).
It’s finally the end of Day 2 and we were treated to a view of such beautiful sunset ❤️
At Underwater World, Callum got this fridge magnet as souvenir and he’s been looking at it ever since 😂 ( and now he is so much into various fridge magnets with landmarks)
Day 3: Langkawi Skycab & Skybridge 🚡🌁
After breakfast, we drove 30 mins to Langkawi Skycab.
Q-ed up for the ticket. You may purchase the tickets from Klook as well.
Kids below 3 ride for free
*The price for Skycab 🚡:
Adult (Non Malaysian) approx RM 80
Children 3-12 yo (Non Malaysian) approx 61
*The price for Skybridge:
Adult RM6
Children (3-12 yo) RM4
*Prices denoted are true at the time of our visit and purchase.
Patiently waiting for their turn
Meanwhile we also learnt that Langkawi Skycab is the steepest cable car in the world with an angle of 42° 🤯
We were treated to so many magnificent and picturesque views of mountains, hills and Andaman Sea
At the top of the mountain! Waiting in line for our Skyglide ( it’s basically a glamorous term for a lift la 😂) that will bring us to the Skybridge
There are 2 options available to access the Skybridge:
1. Skyglide ( Charges apply , RM7 per adult, RM4 per child)
2. Nature Trail / Walk ( Free but you have to climb up and down a lot of staircases- not convenient with young kids especially when there is crowd)
View from inside the Skyglide (View of nothingness)
We spent about 3-4 hours there and decided that it’s time to head back to hotel, get some food and rest. The kids were so tired and Isaac had full blown meltdown 🫠
We decided to just pack McDonald’s on the way back cos eating in a restaurant would just be a disaster.
Callum and Isaac had Mc Porridge ( which tasted pretty good!) while Hub had Mc Nasi Lemak and I had fillet o fish (again, sorry no pic, no time for it - kids first 😆)
Back at the hotel, the kids washed up, rested and we brought them to the kids club to spend the rest of the afternoon
Dinner at this amazing Japanese Restaurant (Unkaizan Japanese Restaurant)
It was a beautiful late afternoon after the rain as we spotted a rainbow! 🌈
Can you spot it too?
And the next morning, we scoot back home!
Thank you for reading!
Till our next adventure! ✈️✈️
With Love ❤️,
Jane
